Uniform
Infant children are expected to wear school uniform. We believe that a school uniform is both practical and suitable and creates a feeling of pride in the school and a sense of belonging.
Uniform List:
Grey skirt, grey pinafore dress or grey uniform trousers (long or short)
Red or White polo shirt (long or short sleeved)
Red sweatshirt or red cardigan
Red and White check dress for the summer
Book bag (only available from Stevensons)
We ask parents to adhere to the overall colour scheme of red and grey: it doesn't matter if you buy a jumper or trousers from a high street store or from the 'official' uniform supplier, Stevensons - see list of uniform available below.
When purchasing uniform please help your children to become independent by ensuring that they can manage the fastenings on their clothes - for example:
it is far easier to cope with - school polo shirts rather than the traditional type of shirt/blouse that has numerous buttons; slip on shoes rather than lace up shoes.
Please mark all clothing and footwear, and other items, clearly with your child’s name. Lost items cannot be identified unless they are named.
All children will need a book bag from our uniform supplier, Stevensons (Book bag to be taken home and brought back to school every day.). There is a branch in Harpenden, and another in St. Albans. You can either visit the shop in person or shop on line at www.stevensons.co.uk . There is no obligation to buy/wear the items below, but they are on offer should you wish to choose clothing with a logo:
Sweatshirt Red with school logo
Cardigan Red with school logo
P.E. T-shirt White with school logo
Baseball cap Red with school logo
Legionnaire’s hat Red with school logo
P.E. kit/Shoe bag Red with school logo
Water bottle With school logo
Second hand uniform is available through the PTA uniform shop, which is held twice a term and the dates are notified via the school termly calendar and P.T.A. bulletins.
Clothing for P.E.:
Children take part in P.E. activities at least twice a week and it is necessary for them to be suitably dressed. The children should be provided with the following P.E. kit:
T-shirt/short sleeved top Red or White
Shorts Red (Stevensons) or black shorts from a high street shop.
Trainers (please check fitting regularly)
Any 'track suit' top and bottoms to wear when it is cold outside - we do PE outside all year round!
Shoes:
Children are active at school and should wear comfortable, practical shoes. We ask parents to remember that open-toed shoes are not practical for school and should not be worn. We do not require separate indoor shoes to be brought to school, but may ask for wellies or a change of shoes to be provided as the weather changes and the mud starts coming in!
Nursery:
Stevensons also supply optional items (fleece, t-shirt) for the Nursery children. All the items feature the Nursery logo.
