Reception New Starters - September 2021
Once again this year, we are not able to meet and get to know our new Reception children and parents as we would ordinarily do! That's a pity, but we have reviewed our programme and made new resources to try to make the process smooth despite the obstacles in our way!
Visiting Nursery Settings
Where possible, our staff have been visiting Nursery settings to meet the children joining us in September. The children are delighted to see them, and already know them from the pictures in the Transition booklets.
Wednesday 16th and Wednesday 23rd June
Mrs Read and Miss Archer will 'meet' parents online to provide comprehensive information about starting school here at The Grove. The 'zoom' meeting link has been sent out to families, but if you need to check feel free to contact the office.
A copy of the slides will be uploaded after the second presentation has taken place.
All new starters have been sent a copy of our Transition Booklets to share and revisit throughout the summer.
New to The Grove - Visits
If you already have a child at The Grove, we have now changed our arrangements for you and your child: we are NOT expecting you, as initially planned, on either 6th/7th and 13th/14th July. The announcement on 14th June, and the COVID guidance for schools that remains in place will not allow us to have visitors on this scale. We are really sorry that your child will not be able to visit, but we are confident that our transition arrangements in September will enable them to settle.
Whilst operating under restrictions we have decided that only those families who are completely new to the school can be accomodated. These children need to be prioritised! We have contacted these families and offfered them the chance to come in. If you have not received a specific invite, then please do not come!
Tuesday 6th July - Lime
Wednesday 7th July - Sycamore
Tuesday 13th July - Chestnut
Last year the teachers made videos for their new classes, reading stories - why not have a look!
Nursery New Starters September 2021
Once again we find ourselves adapting to the COVID restrictions and guidance for schools! Not to worry! We have been here before and now have a better understanding of the information that will support parents before children start Nursery.
New Parents Information Evening
We have invited new parents to join us in a 'zoom' meeting either on Tuesday 15th June or Tuesday 22nd June. We have sent out meeting invitations, but if you need to check, please contact the office.
The presentation slides will be added to this area of the website as soon as both meetings have taken place.
We have made materials to share at home. These will be sent to new parents but can also be found here after the information meetings have taken place.
Stay and Play
In September parents and children will be invited to Stay and Play sessions on 2nd, 3rd, and 6th of September. On 7th and 8th September, children will start in groups and by 9th September everyone will be attending their allocated sessions!
These dates will be shared with parents before the end of June.
