Our Intent for History
The history curriculum will help pupils to gain an understanding of the past, inspiring a curiosity to find out more. We shape our history curriculum to ensure it is fully inclusive to every child. Our aims are to fulfil the requirements of the National Curriculum for History; providing a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum that encompasses the British Values throughout; ensuring the progressive development of historical concepts, knowledge and skills; and for the children to study life in the past. We want children to enjoy and love learning about history by gaining this knowledge and skills, not just through experiences in the classroom, but also with the use of fieldwork and educational visits.
History Exposition
During 2022/2023 we developed our links with the local History Association. After a visit to assembly the school community went away and find out about their local history. We then had a school exposition to celebrate their findings.
It was amazing.
Birthday Party
On Friday 17th May 2024 we had a lovely afternoon sharing dances from the decades to celebrate the school turning 60. The Junior costumes were brilliant and really showed us how to do it. The Infants impressed them with our routines as well. Each year group performed a dance from different decades, starting with 1960s, through to the present day. Very entertaining!
