Computing

Our Intent for Computing

At the Grove we aim to prepare pupils to participate in a rapidly changing world in which work and other activities are increasingly transformed by access to varied and developing technology. Through the 2014 programme of study for computing, they learn how computers and computer systems work, they design and build programs, develop their ideas using technology and create a range of content. Pupils use computing tools to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information responsibly, creatively and with discrimination.  Increased capability in the use of computing promotes initiative and independent learning, with pupils being able to make informed judgements about when and where to use technology to best effect, and to consider its implications for home and work both now and in the future.  Continuing focus on online safety throughout KS1 with national focus on mental health and wellbeing.  Giving pupils the opportunity to become independent users of technology, including the use of mouses, keyboards, apps and tablets.  Using technology in a cross-curricular way where appropriate.  Provide pupils with skills necessary for transition to KS2.
