Pets As Therapy Reading Dogs
We are very lucky, Mrs Parrott and Izzy have been attending training and Izzy has now qualified as a PAT dog. This means that she is now able to come to school and hear children read. Initially, Izzy is going to come in after lunch on Mondays so if you are visiting then you may meet her. If she is in the building there will be a sign on the door to say that she is here.
PAT dogs are used in schools, care homes and hospitals. In schools they spend their time listening to stories, and are very good at providing reassurance and support for children who are reluctant readers, are keen to practice their reading skills more or who just need a special treat! Excellent at listening, they love sharing books with children and can listen even when their eyes are closed.
Important information:
If you have any questions about Izzy, the PAT programme, or would NOT like your child to be invited to read to Izzy, please let us know.
