Reading level descriptors

At school children are taught to read using Guided Reading books that stretch them.  When they bring books home to read they are practising skills they have been taught, and should be able to read the text relatively fluently.  If the books are too challenging, children can feel dispirited - not what we want at all!  So enjoy your reading together, allowing your child to show their developing skills, and remember that going through the levels is a marathon, not a sprint.
